Natural Resources

The Natural Resources program seeks to protect and enhance the many natural treasures Minnesotans enjoy and cherish. The program mission is to protect, conserve, and enhance Minnesota’s diverse natural resources. This work is accomplished using the best available science to support and advocate for policies and practices that ensure the integrity and sustainability of Minnesota’s lakes, rivers, wetland, and forests, prairies and grassland as well as the communities that depend upon them.
 
Historically, MCEA has worked on a wide range of important issues that affect natural resources, including ballast water regulations, drainage law, off-highway vehicle policies, and the Wetland Conservation Act.

Current work is focused in five areas:
