Larry is a litigation attorney retired from 48 years of private practice in Rochester. Larry was elected national President of the Sierra Club for two terms (1986 to 1988), President of the Sierra Club Foundation for two terms (1990-1992), and Chair of the Sierra Club’s Centennial Capital Campaign. He has served on several Minnesota Governor’s task forces, including those for the Environmental Trust Fund, the Environmental Compact between the States, Minnesota Energy Policies, and Power Plant Siting. He was a Trustee of the John Muir Trust, an environmental organization in the UK devoted to preservation and restoration of wild lands. He was awarded the Silver Medal of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society in recognition of his service to the environment and received the prestigious Richard Leonard award for his leadership of both the Sierra Club and the Sierra Club Foundation.
