While recent attention has focused on mining proposals near the Boundary Waters, another sulfide mining proposal in central Minnesota is approaching a critical decision point. The Tamarack Mine, a proposed nickel mine, is moving into a new phase of state review — and the decisions made now could affect waters that flow through the Mississippi and St. Croix River watersheds. 

From July 14 through September 12, the public will have its first opportunity to formally weigh in on the Tamarack proposal. This public comment period is one of the most important ways for Minnesotans to influence how our state protects clean water, downstream communities, and Tribal resources.
