Carolyn Ham

Carolyn is an environmental organizer, mother, lawyer, and fisherwoman. She first got involved in the climate fight with MN350, protesting against various Enbridge tar sands pipelines cutting through our state. She served as the Board Chair for MN350 for 5 years, helping it to grow from a small nonprofit into a mature organization with over 10 employees and a multimillion-dollar budget.

Carolyn worked at the Attorney General’s Office from 1989 to 2000. She also spent eleven years working as in house counsel for UnitedHeathcare, working on combatting healthcare fraud. She ended her career at the Minnesota Department of Human Services, first as Inspector General, followed by being part of the Governor’s Task Force in responding to the many needs of vulnerable people during the pandemic.

She retired from the State of Minnesota in 2022 and now devotes much of her time advocating for climate justice. Carolyn is currently a co-facilitator for Third Act Minnesota, a group of Minnesotans age sixty or older, who are working together to stop the worst of climate change.
