Power generation in Minnesota used 505 billion gallons of water in 2024. Our municipal water supply came in at a distant second with 185 billion gallons. As we see our aquifers stressed from climate change, pollution, and overuse, it’s important we make sure our drinking water remains the top priority in our policies and permitting. 

This is why MCEA is advocating for a bill that keeps large industries  from using city permits for their water use.
