As of January this year, 115 projects that would expand clean energy infrastructure in the midwest are dependent on the Cardinal Hickory Creek transmission line. This is because without transmission lines there’s no way to move the energy being produced. Although there are many reasons projects might not be approved, a lack of infrastructure connecting energy sources to consumers is a big reason why these projects often get put on hold.
